Charles Woodcheke has been playing drums professionally for many years, both live and in the studio.
Through study, and play, he is well versed in a wide range of musical genres. Steeped in the many styles of Country, Blues, Rock and R&B he also touches on Jazz and Latin music. Dynamics are very important to him and enable him to provide techniques and volume ranges that best fit any application.
Though mostly self taught, he has studied with some Long Island legends such as Bobby Rondinelli and Pete Hayward. He regularly studies new and tried & true techniques. Attending Drum Clinics as often as possible he has been afforded the opportunity to speak technique with legends such as Tommy Igoe, Thomas Lang, John J.R. Robertson and Danny Carey, just to name a few. He has taken a Tabla class with Tabla Master, Aloke Dutta. And gained personal drum tech advise from Jeff Ocheltree.
Charles has played in bands as small as 2 and as large as 12. He has played in the local coffee house and in venues that hold thousands in New York's Tri-state area and he has also been part of regional and national tours.
Currently he regularly plays with his duo, April Rain, in venues across Long Island, but you will find him mostly in Long Island's Wine Country located on the North Fork year round. (Please click above April Rain link)
